It isn't too early to plan your participation in the "Tunnel Hill Battle" paintout set for Saturday and Sunday, September 19th & 20th. In association with the Tunnel Hill Historical Foundation, Southern Plein Air Painters, and the Art Alliance of North Georgia, the paintout is also part of the International Plein Air Painters "World Wide Paintout".
Last year 11 artists from Georgia and Tennessee took part in the paintout held in Tunnel Hill, GA, during the annual "Battle of Tunnel Hill" Civil War reenactment.

This 3 day workshop starts with a meet & greet dinner the first night at my house featuring John's now famous Eggplant Parmesan. Then we will paint daily, learning more about capturing the light and shadows, fine tuning your skills about perspective and values - making you more comfortable out side painting.
You will also be able to take advantage of the Charleston Fine Art Dealers Association events that weekend, featuring the Art Walk Friday night, national artists painting in the park on Saturday (a highlight for previous classes), and a live auction Saturday night.

Art Escapes Fall 2008 (October 30–November 2)
A three-day “Art Escape” awaits you at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute of the University of Arkansas System. Held in a relaxing retreat environment atop Petit Jean Mountain, these art workshops are a great way to refresh your creative spirit and enrich your artistic skills. Choose from these three workshops, each taught by a working artist:
· Wildlife Painting with Duane Hada
· Plein-Air Oil Painting with Bill Garrison
· Watercolor Painting with Gloria Garrison
The artists will provide 16 hours of instruction, including individual assistance and critiques. Meals and evening programming will allow more time for sharing and creative interaction. Study Watercolor in Italy with Jim Chapman
Gainesville, GA artist Jim Chapman is teaching a 10-day watercolor workshop for the University of Georgia’s Studies Abroad Program in the Tuscan village of Cortona, Italy.
Chapman, whose work has been featured in Watercolor Magic and The Artist’s Magazine, will lead an on-location session (“Experience Cortona”) that runs Sept. 14-24.
There are still a few openings for students, and interested artists – beginning to advanced – are encouraged to sign up.

This class will be focusing on drawing basics that will build to a finished piece of artwork. This class will be faith friendly.
Class is open for home school children ages 7 to 13 or grade 1st- 6th. If there are more than 20 children, classes will be divided in two age groups with the classes being offered from 8-9:50 and 10-11:50.

Class is open for home school children ages 7 to 13 or grade 1st- 6th. If there are more than 20 children, classes will be divided in two age groups with the classes being offered from 8-9:50 and 10-11:50.
Cost:
o $10.00 Per class hour or $120.00 per child.
o Families can receive a 10% discount for referring another student/family for the classes. (max of 5 families = 50% discount.)
o All supplies are included in the fee.
Supplies:
o Students will be supplied with a personal set of art pencils (2H, HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B) and higher quality paper for their main and final masterpiece.
o Students will need their own sketchbook for at home practice. Each student will be responsible to bring their supplies to class.
*Faith Friendly - Although not Sunday school, the classes will be taught from the perspected that we are created in the image of a very creative God, who makes us all unique. He is the ultimate artist!

paint out in Tunnel Hill, GA
The Art Alliance of North Georgia is participating in the annual "World Wide Paintout" sponsored by the International Plein Air Painters group. Our paintout will be in conjunction with the "Battle of Tunnel Hill" Civil War reenactment held on September 6th and 7th. There is no entry fee - just the main gate admission which is $5.
The property has 83 acres of rolling meadows, woods, a pre-Civil War plantation house, and several other structures. During the event, there will be many reenactors in period dress, period campsites, horses and a 45 minute battle reenactment.
We're inviting all plein air painters to participate.
